Spring Time Update

Well the Turn-X incubator Manufacturer  said they no longer make parts for my Turn-X5 model incubator after I asked them if the parts for the X6 and X7  models would fit. I never got an answer to the question if the new parts will fit....so I took a gamble on buying a turning strap for the egg ring on my Turn-X5 and it fits!! So I now have to wait for spring to make my Rooster do his thing!!

I also found out that my Store bought Green Onions that I have been growing, after the wife used what she needed for cooking, not only will be giving me some onion seeds but attracting the Honeybees and other pollinating critters. We will be selling or exchanging the seeds in our webstore located at www.kkcooks.com as soon as they are ready. We hope to finally move our webstore to our new domain name (cooktopfarms.com) as soon as our domain name transfer goes through. We are changing our web hosting which is causing some difficulty in the transfer etc.. but what else is new LOL

Onion Blooming

Also planting the Humming Bird/ Butterfly wildflower seed mix soon too. I have found quite a few Ladybug Larvae transforming in our garden which I am really excited about!!

Ladybug Larvae

Actually saw a few bumble bees buzzing about and I hope they will find the Bumble Bee Nest Boxes (Hive Boxes) I have made and set out for them :)

Our little garden is coming along. We hope your planting endeavors are doing well too!!!

Our new growing media experiment

Well the first results of my new experimental seed starting media are in. I used only 1 corn kernel , used toilet paper roll and a growing media that everyone throws away. What is this media you ask?......
Dryer Lint! Yes, that's right Dryer lint!

I stuffed the dryer lint into the used toilet paper roll, though fluffing the lint up a bit and layering it may get better results (still working on that). I then inserted the corn kernel in the dryer lint, just like you would potting soil and put it out amongst the other corn I planted in our recycled deep root starter system.

Here is the result after germination took place....

I will be experimenting with other seeds and methods of using dryer lint as a growing media and will post the results as soon as I get them....

Sweet seedling starter

Here is a sweet way to start your plans and stretch your dollars at the same time. Just get a cheesecake to go from the Cheesecake Factory and once your finished, just wash out the container and some potting soil and start those seeds...
